Free meals for students and seniors

Dear Friend,

During this crisis, we need to take care of our community–that’s why I have spent the last few weeks providing meals to our heroic essential workers, helping our seniors and those suffering financially, and it’s why I want to share some additional resources for those in need.

Our current crisis has exposed the most vulnerable, seniors and children, to increased food insecurity. Our seniors should not be risking their health to get food.

So now, Miami-Dade County Seniors can get free food delivered to them every week just by dialing 311. Anyone who is 60 years or older can receive 10 fresh, vacuum-sealed meals a week while they stay safe at home.

Many of our students have depended on school to provide them meals, often as the only source of reliable food. So for our children, The United Teachers of Dade and Miami-Dade Public Schools announced 50 locations where all students (even from the Aventura Charter School of Excellence) can pick up free meals every Tuesday and Friday from 4-7 p.m.

If you’re in need of assistance, click here for more information and the list of pickup locations.

I will continue my efforts to do all I can for our community, including sharing helpful information and resources. I’m so proud of how Aventura and Miami-Dade County have responded to this crisis. Working together, we can get through this.

Please stay safe.

Thank you,
